1 month post-op today. I feel wonderful!! Before my surgery I felt so helpless as I was getting weaker and weaker. I've been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes at the same time as my AVS I have always been considered an uncontrolled diabetic. I had the over night rebound condition so I would start my days in the 200's. I could not excersize due to my AVS so I was in a catch 22 situation. I was afraid to eat anything which was actually making my diabetes worse. I was started in Rehab the 2nd week post op. Since my surgery and I am feeling Amazing. My blood sugars have gone down significantly and I am only needing to take my Glemiperide meds as needed. I had an excellent Surgeon and team @ Minneapolis Heart Institute in MN. My surgeon is Dr. Benjamin Sun. He has been doing heart valves for many years. He does mini Sternum incisions if he can and I was a blessed recipient of just that. I've been telling my friends and family I had to go through my 80's so I can now enjoy my 50-60's. So thankful for God's many promises that have helped me and continues to help me through the process. Looking forward to good health once again, little by little. (saw my cardiologist today and I must have been a little too excited/enthusiastic about my new life cause she felt she needed to remind me "now remember your just a month out"...heheee....
Thank you all!
Susan Lynn Happy 1 month Anniversary! Continued success with your recovery! ❤

I was diagnosed in 2010 after having jaw and neck pain, angiogram was preformed and all findings recorded (I was told I probably developed AS due to untreated rumatic fever when I was young). Have been closely monitored for the last 8 years and now is the time for OHS. Won't know much more until after my angiogram.
