I think I would like to know how bad things have to get before surgery is done. I'm always dizzy, feel like I can't breathe, and it's making my anxiety worse. At my last visit the Dr said the dizziness wasn't even related to my valve problem. Super frustrated.
Have you had an echocardiogram? My problem was my mitral valve. I didn't have any noticeable symptoms but my ventricle started to enlarge and my cardiologist said it was time for surgery. An echo will tell you how bad your regurgitation is and if there's any enlargement in your heart.
Yes he said there really wasn't any change from last years echo.
Lisa is 100% right. Get an echocardiogram and a second opinion.
My cardiologist used to ask me at every visit if I was experiencing ANY dizziness at all!! And if I was having ANY difficulty breathing!! Those are two very important indicators, in my case anyway!! I would def get a 2nd opinion if you can. My cardiologist actually recommended surgery... Read more.
I switched cardiologists this past fall because I felt my previous one wasn't listening to me. My new one is great. She listened and did more tests. Both her and the surgeon who did my Cath both agreed people will present differently. Some have symptoms earlier while others do not... Read more.
