I'm now 7 weeks post op and I'm having numbness in my right leg from my knee down to my ankle, I'm not able to touch it because it's a stabbing tingling pain. The doctor says it's normal but I'm also numb in my right arm in my arm pit and underneath my arm, the doctor says that's from the chest tube and it's also normal. I'm hoping this pain goes away and the feeling in my leg comes back

Susan Lynn Tamara - What type of entry did you have for your mitral valve replacement? I had a side entry and during that procedure, the nerves are intentionally deadened. I had pins and needles and numbness for over a year while the nerves regenerated. I wouldn't call what I had stabbing. I also had a femoral cannula for bypass and had a bit of numbness at the top of my thigh for a short period of time, but also wouldn't call it painful. Seven weeks is early into your recovery, but I think it's best that you contact your surgeon now. I wish you the best of luck and hope your pain subsides very soon.
