Carlene and I met with my CV surgeon,Dr Dyrud yesterday. He is a very nice man. Spent a lot of time with us. He even got my weird humor! A date for my surgery has been set... 7AM Tuesday Feb 21...I am not looking forward to the surgery, but I am looking forward to felling good again, so BRING IT ON... My neighbor is a nurse anesthetist at the hospital and has graciously agreed to be mime for the surgery..that's comforting for Carlene and me. I'm now deciding on the type of valve to have placed, mechanical or biologic( pig or cow). Positives and negatives to both. Thank you for the posts to this journal, the kind thoughts and wishes, and MOST importantly, your prayers..
A big THANK YOU for the responses to my posting..wow...I've been reading various blogs about AVR. I need to work on my patience, as waiting is not my my "long suit". The posts I have read about coughing or sneezing, post surgery, are humorously blunt..don't do it!!! But my lungs still have fluid in them, the Laxsix dose was cut from 40 to 20 mg, I wheez & cough a lot. No problem now, but what about after surgery..will they get all the fluid out? increase Lasix? Just wondering!!! Hurry up Jan 26!!!!!
On Jan 16 I had an angiogram at Methodist Hospital done by Dr Hougland. It was easier than I thought it would be. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The results were good, no coronary artery disease. I have my surgery consult on Jan 26 with my surgeon, Dr Dyrud, and get my date for a new aortic valve. My emotions are all over the chart, but I am over feeling tired all the time and look forward to feeling strong. Glad I have God and my family to get me through this.... Just waiting!!!
