Hello all... I had Aortic root and valve repair on April 11th of this year.. I am going on 3 mos. I would appreciate anyone's input as I physically fee really good but emotionally I have been a wreck. really emotional not to sound like a total puss, but i been crying alot, for things that are emotional, I get overly angry for things that I shouldn't. And then their is the brain fog. I have trouble big trouble focusing, and concentrating. I'm a mortgage broker and i have to think and play with numbers but if I do it to long I get a headache, and/or super tired and exhausted. I have ask the doctors but all they say now is its normal. which is hard to accept because it is not normal for me... but if anyone else has gone through this... I would appreciate the input. Thank you all

Marie Myers Oh yes, I was very emotional for a few weeks after my surgery. Sad commercials would get me crying! For me, things started to get back to normal after a few weeks, but everyone is different. I think it is the bodies’ response to the huge emotional and physical stress of the surgery. I would speak to your general doctor and see if they have any suggestions to help your recovery. Keep us posted!

John Cook I think the emotional bit is 1 part trauma from the surgery and 1 part the drugs they put us on after the surgery. I cried randomly for no reason for the first two weeks. I’m doing better in my 3rd week, but it still happens a lot. Yesterday was also a high anxiety day for me for no apparent reason. Anxiety isn’t a normal problem for me.
I also know my BP & heart meds pre-surgery affected me emotionally. I rotated off all of them one at a time to see if they were contributing to an edema problem I had that turned out to be PsA.
