Marie Myers 8 days is pretty early in your recovery. I had the same surgery as you 6 years ago at age 63. I was really surprised at the level of exhaustion also. Keep in mind that your blood count is probably still low, and that adds to the exhaustion. Your lungs may not be totally 100% either, so keep up with the deep breathing and walking. I started feeling better at the 2 week mark. As your body replaces the lost blood cells, your energy will increase. I think the mental exhaustion from the enormity of the surgery adds to the post op slump. You will start feeling better bit by bit, and day by day. Rest in between those walks, and let us know how you are doing. Hang in there!

Klara Čičić Dear Sean, your body has been through a lot! It is huge surgery, your heart is healing, it takes time. You are still very early days and exhaustion is completely normal. In a matter of weeks you should feel better already. Take one day at a time, try to be positive and patient. Just remember you have a scar on your very heart that needs to heal and your whole body is doing a huge job right now to recover from trauma of surgery. You are doing great! Take care
