Richard King Minimal invasive operation. Scar is a little more than anticipated but that is not why I opted for minimal invasive. Walking 4 times per day, 30 minutes each time. Began using a treadmill at 2 mph today. Hope to be up to at least 3mph before cardiac rehab begins and build on the stamina.

Susan Lynn Richard - The mitral valve can be repaired with a minimally-invasive entry, but I don't know about a bypass. There are many contingencies to be approved for minimally-invasive surgery, but when I had mine 7 years ago, a need for bypass would have eliminated me as a candidate for it. If you have found a surgeon who can do it, that's great. Generally, all repairs are done in the same surgery. Please keep us posted.
