Klara Čičić Dear Peter this discussion comes every now and then. I didn't have the robotic nor full sternotomy but minimally invasive right sided thoracotomy for my mitral valve repair. Some say it is more painful at the beginning (due to nerves and soft tissue being cut) as opposed to sternotomy, but takes less to recover... Everyone is different, it took me 4-5 months to fully recover.
