Two days prior to my surgery. I am super nervous and anxious. My logic tells me everything is going to be fine but I can't get out of my own way.

Bryan Savage You'll do great Paul! I had a very similar situation. I'm sorry you've had this looming over you for years now. Mine was discovered when my wife was pregnant with our first kid and then I had the surgery a few months after she was born. Those 6 or 7 months of waiting and worrying were awful..Like everyone says, the fear and anxiety building up to surgery was worse than the surgery itself for sure. It's been almost 10 months since my surgery and it feels like a distant memory already. I had high odds for a repair but not guaranteed. People's comments and stories on this site really easemd my nerves and I hope the same for you. You'll be other side of all of this before you know it. It sucks but man are we lucky to live in a time when these problems can be discovered and fixed.

They move fast the day of the surgery and everyone is super nice and answers all your questions. After that, you couldn't be in safer hands than with the totally on-top-of-it ICU doctors and nurses. You will have a nurse by your side, 24/7 literally!! Once you get out of the ICU and into what is called the step-down you will be exhaling and smiling and being so happy that your are better.
Cameron Peek I will be sending you prayers that all goes well.
