Nap Garcia I too am in the Chicago area and scheduled for surgery in a couple weeks, mitral valve repair. Though my initial tests were done at Edwards, strangely I was referred to a surgeon at one of the other two hospitals. Surprised I wasn't referred to any surgeon at Edwards considering my cardiologist is based at Edwards. But both Northwestern and Loyola have very reputable surgeons, with Loyola being closer to where I live and was referred to one of their top surgeons there, but I don't think you can go wrong with either hospital. I don't know if insurance will cover travel costs to a facility when there is one closer to you that offer the same or comparable services.
