Richard Munson A second opinion or third never hurts. Mitral valve bleeding may mean mitral valve leaking which is regurgitation. All your exercise over the years is good stuff. I ran into my 70’s, and my mitral valve regurgitation was discovered around 75 during a physical. I tend to think mitral valve issues may be in many cases gene related. Of course high blood pressure is the silent killer so its always good to have it in check.

Patricia Miller Nicole, I am so sorry you are dealing with this. It is so much to take in and you are not alone. I did not find this community till several months after my mitral valve repair. I wish I had found it before my mitral valve repair. It is uplifting to read how others have coped w/ their diagnoses and their heart valve surgery. My anger about my heart disease has taken some time to work through. I have found keeping office visit notes, results, medication information, and my list of questions in a binder to be helpful at keeping me organized. If you feel you need to seek a second opinion, do not hesitate. I switched cardiologists. Find one that is a good fit. I am a nurse in a totally different specialty, but I did not understand any of this at first. The videos and webinars on this site are very informative. Hang in there.

Brady Busch The comment," I was told surgery will not help at all",was the thing that stuck out. From reading,it looks like Aortic sclerosis differs from stenosis,in that the leaflets are stiffened, but still allow blood flow.So to me,that may be not as bad,but I'm not a doctor. I agree though, the more experts that look at conditions, usually helps.
