I'm a little late on this post, but I had a heart valve revision in Feb 2025. I got 19 years out of my initial Edwards Life Sciences bio-prosthetic aortic valve. This time, I received another Edwards Lifesciences valve. The Inspiris. Though I could have been considered for a TAVR, I was 60 at the time of the revision. The thought process was that if I had to have a third revision (assuming that I'll get 20-ish years out of this one), that we could do the TAVR then rather than a full open heart procedure at that age.

Rose Madura Michael, for what it's worth, I think you made a good decision. It's amazing that you got nearly 20 years out of the first one. I'm hoping for that. I had my aortic valve replaced when I was 59 so I'd go for a TAVR then.

My 19 year old prosthetic Aortic valve will be re-replaced tomorrow with an Edwards Lifesciences Inspiris Resilia. A re-operation of this sort comes with some additional risk. I'm anxious about the surgery and recovery, but I am confident that my care is in the best of hands.

Michael Lupo Thanks everyone! Today marks 1 month since my valve replacement. I feel good and am starting to be able to do more things physically, like walk on the hilly roads of my neighborhood. Still taking it slow, but am definitely on the mend.
