Jean Raber You have been through a trauma. Heart surgery patients essentially suffer from PTSD. You still have a lot of drugs you aren't used to in your system. People on here have been helped by talk therapy and, sometimes, anti depressants. Some find that cardiac rehab helps. Doctors and hospitals don't always do a good job preparing patients for this. First step is to call your doc to explain your feelings and to make sure you are healing as expected and are on the right meds and dosages. What you are feeling will pass. It absolutely will, but it may take some time. Please stay in touch on here. God bless you.

Wanda Mroz Everything that Jean said. I don't know exactly what your surgery was but you need to contact your doctor about the racing heart, stomach, because it requires meds adjustment. PLEASE do that. Read others stories on here. It is challenging at first, but it will honestly get better. Share on here. There are a lot of folks on this site who can help and have gone through the same. Hugs... Keep us up on your progress.💞

Rita Savelis I hear you. You've been through a trauma. I was SO aware of my heart after OHS. Crying is normal. All one's emotions have to come out. Be vocal about how you feel. Rest. Healing time really varies. Everyone has their own experience and in fact there is no way to be prepared. Ask doctors and nurses any questions you might have. I found myself seeing my regular doctor often because cardiologists can be hard to schedule appts with. I needed reassurance and seeing a regular doctor helped.

Gail Magnus I cried my eyes out on a daily basis when I got home from the hospital. I've never cried from such a deep place before...ever. Once I cried, though I would get past it until the next day. I had a bad time of day the first 2-4 weeks. It was in the late afternoon/early evening. I was told surgery totally whacks out your emotions and that it would get better. I was pretty emotional and that was with a decent dose of Lexapro on board. I also was very aware of my heart pounding. My resting HR is still in the mid 90's and I'm 3 1/2 months post op. But you should definitely get checked out if you're having weirdness above and beyond the pounding heart beat. It will get better! Everybody is different, but hang in there.
