Hi, New to this page. I am 2 weeks out from my minimal invasive robotic mitral valve replacement. I feel good and I am just wondering about exercise. I was very active pre surgery and now I feel my body needs to exercise. but I don't know what is safe? I am 51 in great health. I am walking and doing stairs already sense day 1 post recovery. waiting for authorization to start cardiac rehab. very happy to have found this community

Susan Lynn Maria - Welcome! Sounds like you're doing great!! Don't overdo it, though. One day of overexerting yourself can set your recovery back by several days. Once you get to cardiac rehab, they'll be able to evaluate your current fitness level and recommend a routine that is appropriate. Best of luck to you!

Robert Miller I think(I am not a doctor) it is save to do some exercises, especially easy things like walking. Don't overdue it. Your heart is working harder so it's easier to faint, etc. So you need to be cognizant of that. As for rehab, my cardiologist advised against it for people that have been quite active. He said they just slow you down, then make you increase your activity and claim its all because of them. I put in a few miles a day after surgery before being more active again.
