I had mitral valve replacement May 2021. I was on a ventilator for five days. I have quit a few symptoms of post perfusion syndrome. Can you get PPS after being on a ventilator, or just from heart/lung machine. Desperate for answers!

Susan Lynn Lynn - I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing issues and I'm sure being on a ventilator for five days must have been awful for you and your family. I haven't heard of ventilators causing cognitive problems. As far as I know, it's related to the circulation and return of blood while on bypass. Sadly, many medical professionals don't acknowledge the impact of the pump. Have you noticed improvement? The effects are thought to be temporary and usually resolved within 12 months.
