Hello! I have moderate to severe mitral valve regurgitation with both the anterior and posterior leaflets involved.
Have any of you had both leaflets operated on? Is it a longer or more complicated operation?
I’m wondering if robotic surgery is a possibility.
I get tested every 6 months, waiting to see when the time for surgery has come.

Susan Lynn I had Barlow's disease and had an annuloplasty ring placed around by mitral valve. I also had chords repaired. My surgeon didn't operate on the leaflets, per se, but corrected how they close. I am not sure, but I think that is pretty standard for mv repairs. There are lots of mitral valve folks on this site who may also be able to provide their input. There are additionally many approaches to accessing the heart and robotic is one of them. You definitely want to weigh the pros and cons of each. Take your time and make the decision that's right for you. Best of luck, Linda!
