Robert Miller Can't speak for aortic valve surgery but I did have a bit of leakage around my mitral valve after surgery. To my knowledge, there isn't anything you can do besides just living a healthy life. You might want to get regular check-ups. First every 3 months, then every 6 months and then maybe once a year, depending on your situation.
Ken Stigletts Thank you all for responding. It’s a considered moderate from my understanding.

Deena Z I would get a second opinion on the level of leakage, because interpretations can really vary, which is frustrating. It doesn't have to be immediate, but within the next year. Did you inquire of your surgeon as to probable cause and a plan?

Ken Stigletts Thank you Deena. I did inquire and he was very noncommittal. It is “common” according to him and we will just monitor it. I am seeking another opinion with Advent Health.

Deena Z Common?? Hmmm. I wld definitely seek a second opinion on the echo. If HVS NURSE MARIE reads this, it would be good to get her to chime-in. She worked with OHS and had her aorta operated on. I feel for you; it’s challenging enough to get through the pre- and actually surgery. Will say a prayer right now for you to receive better news all around. Keep us updated. ❤️🙏

J Alexander Lassally Ken - Deena is right ! Just to chime in from my mitral expereince with very skilled Cleveland Clinic. A small amount of leakage post surgery is okay to keep pressures down on valve. Think of creating a cushion. That is "good leakage" This is intentional.
Bad leakage would be an aberrant lack of closure or a missed juncture from sloppy work. One of the surgeons I consulted was notorious for sloppy over tightening which is the opposite problem you may have. Non committal answers not good.
Get a second opinion on it from an independent pair of eyes... And dont be afraid to leave your hoe network for it...
