Looking for insight from anyone who has had a Ross procedure in their late 50s? I'm 59, asymptomatic, and I would say fairly healthy other than my severe aortic regurgitation. I ski probably more aggressively than I should, sail, row, and do CrossFit. Struggling with the idea of a mechanical valve that my cardiologist is recommending. Any insight would be great.

Darrell Malone Hello Ken. I had the Ross done at age 55. That was 16 months ago now. I am very happy that I'm not on blood thinners. I also am hoping that this will last for the rest of my life. I am back to my full activities, biking, elliptical and feel very good. When I first found out about my heart issue due to a bicuspid valve I was asymptomatic. My options from my first surgeon was mechanical or biological. I researched some and found the Ross procedure was something I'd rather explore so I got other options. So I'd advise in getting more opinions. Whatever you decide I wish you all the best.
