Im 5 weeks post op today from my aneurysm/bicuspid repair,,,anyone else in group that had same still feeling fatigued?

Dear Katherine, the fatigue is likely to stay for a while, 5 weeks is still very early. But you should see slowly improvement each day!

Oh boy, one month from today I will be having my surgery to fix my AV and aorta...Its getting real now!

Katherine, I know exactly how you feel. I am also a CRNA, vintage 1979. It was soooo hard having a positive and cheerful attitude about the whole idea of open heart surgery. The only times i spent in a hospital overnight prior to my surgery at age 63 were on-call!!!... Read more.

I have one 4.1 cm that they tell me not to worry about. Easy for them to say. How big is yours?

If you are able to exercise, I would do some walking, swimming, or yoga to help you get in the best shape possible for surgery. It may help your mental outlook and help speed your recovery.
Trust your surgeon and medicine in general! Everything will be fine!
What is considered heavy lifting might be the big question.
My aneurysm is 5.1 now… my surgeon tells me the new guidelines as of this year is operate after 5.0

Richard, my Dr. told me to keep it under 20 lbs for me. I think it depends on the individual also. Like I said, I am stubborn though and very often am lifting more than that, like when I try to get ALL the bags of groceries in one trip... Read more.
