On this "wear red" day, I love this picture from April 19, 2018 when many co-workers wore red for me on the day of my mitral valve repair.

Four plus months post surgery and all is well. But, how long does the incision discomfort last? I notice generalized tenderness throughout the day...clothing rubbing can be annoying, sometimes if I move wrong I notice a stretching feeling, etc. Just wanting to make sure I'm not feeling abnormal things. Hi Julie,
I developed a cheloid scar after my surgery Dec 2016 and had my dermatologist treat it with steroid shots (ouch)! Very painful but really did the trick with respect to itching and discomfort.
Hi Julie, I am just about 5 months post surgery and while I don't have the discomfort, I do feel the stretching especially on the left side. But I like my scar too. Good luck.
I have a keloid scar since 1996 and it still itches in humid hot weather. Agree with Jean on the steroid shots. Helped lay the keloid scar flat. ☮️
me too! i had a keloid and it was itchy. i couldn't have clothes touch it had the injections ouch is right Jean! but flatter now
I was pretty sure my scar is keloid and you all pretty much confirmed it. I'll look into steroid shots, but I'll wait a bit. Thanks!!

Celebrating! Three months post surgery. No more restrictions, no more cardiac rehab, no more Warfarin. Life is certainly good!!
