Can anyone recommend what type of wedge pillow they used that provided the most comfort? Also, I am getting the Da Vinci robotic surgery, so my chest pain will come primarily from the right side and of course, my heart.
Jim Stutler Julia, check my reply below. (I put it in the wrong place...)

Laura Jacobs I used my daughter's college dorm wedge pillow that she bought at Bed Bath and Beyond. It is pretty large and adjustable for different slopes by flipping one portion of it from one side to the other.

Phyllis Petersen I had robotically-assisted, minimally invasive mitral valve repair last October. I didn't use a wedge, but I did prop up with a couple of pillows initially and then did put a pillow under my left arm when I was able to sleep on my right side. Reading your story again, you have some serious fears beyond the usual. Try to be optimistic that everything will go well, especially since they're aware of your previous problems. Keep reminding them! I told everyone under the sun of my problems with oxy, so I wouldn't be puking the whole time. Allergies are a lot worse. If you have any questions I can answer, feel free to email me at fabphyllis@gmail.com. There are more and more robot people on here now.

Bob Fessler 4 pillows placed in a wedge shape. The lower two laying across the bed on top of each other, the top two lengthwise in the bed on top of each other. Worked for me.

Barbara Wood I ordered a 9" memory foam wedge from Amazon- it was about $40. I used that with about 5-6 bed pillows that I kind of made a nest with- 2 to prop my head, one on either side for my arms, & 1-2 for under my knees- just like they arranged them in the hospital. It was very comfy. Best wishes!
Robyn Tatu I also got a 9" memory foam from Walmart. About 40$.

Peggy Whitecotton Another thing I would thought was very helpful was a bed rail it's great for helping you get in and out of bEd. Very helpful once I starting sleeping in the again, I got it at Walmart for $40 and also bought a shower chair which was a worthy investment.
