12 years has gone by and here I am needing another aortic valve replacement. I was treated for Hodgkins lymphoma decades ago and have faced a multitude of health issues, thyroid, breast cancer, valve disease but am more than grateful and blessed to still be here to complain haha! When I posted here 12 years ago Dr. Castro reached out to me via telephone and calmed my fears in making the decision to have a minimally invasive aortic/mitral replacement vs cracking my radiated chest. Granted it wasn't easy but have done wonderfully until now. I have now been faced with finding a new doctor/hospital that specializes in radiation damage cardio disease. I am in the Orlando area and unfortunately the doctor that was featured on this site, Dr. Accola has retired. I am willing to travel out of state if necessary. I am hoping someone in this community has been in a similar situation and can recommend a doctor, hospital, surgery performed TAVR vs SAVR and their outcomes. I would be lying in saying I am not frightened.

Eric Hanson I am one with you on the radiation damage. I also had Hodgkins in 96 and 3 months of full mantle radiation, which has resulted with a new aortic valve 5 weeks ago, I don't know if the surgeon that did my aortic valve replacement is considered a expert in radiation damage, but he has taught me more about it in the last month that I have had anyone else in 30 years and has a fantastic bedside manner and ability to talk with you and not at you. Dr. Curtis Hunter at St. Marks hospital in Utah.
