Hello I have a 4.9 aortic root aneurysm and bicuspid valve I was wondering if I am ok to fly as someone mentioned about the pressure of flying could effect your aneurysm is there any truth to that? With COVID ramping back up how concerned should I be if I get? Additionally does anyone know which surgeon / hospital is the best to treat my particular case 4.9 root and BAV? Lastly does anyone know if there is any other surgery other then open heart for aortic root aneurysm? I realize I have quite a bit of questions but wanted to get them all in. This website is great and am so grateful to have a good resource to go to. I love hearing all the good success stories gives me hope and helps with the anxiety of this. Thank you

Rose Madura Hi Janet. I don't think there is any danger in flying but it is always best to check with your doctor for those type of questions. There are many great hospitals all across the US so it's best to do your diligence and look into ones close to you or decide if you want to travel. And to my knowledge, you need OHS to fix the aneurysm.

I was flying from Chicago to Florida. I would ask your cardiologist first and also mask up on the plane, as it is not well ventilated.
