I have definitely noticed! Maybe it's because I have been suffering from chronic severe insomnia for going on 2 years now. My average is around 3 hours. It's had a huge impact on my quality of life. I haven't responded well with the different medications prescribed.
Since I retired and am able to get 8 hours of sleep, it's amazing how much better I feel. That and a new valve have given me much more energy and stamina.
I, too, have had issues with sleep over the last several years. I found that meditating while focusing on my slow, calm breathing has helped me. The website HeadSpace is good for learning meditation, and I recommend it. I do occasionally take a 15 mg temazepam for sleep, but I... Read more.

So I have absolutely no excuse for pushing myself towards recovery. My mother turned 90 yesterday and still goes to the gym with my 90 year old father 3x's per week. No excuse - none.

Just remember, you had recent open heart surgery. You can push, just not too hard, and not every day. You have been through a lot, so give yourself the time off and rest you may need.
Keep going, Gregg!! I am a few weeks near my valve surgery date!
