Cardiac Rehab I think I may be in the wrong place by visiting this site, don’t really know. I will be turning 60 this summer so I still consider myself a young buck. I’m really confused about my health and don’t necessarily take it serious because I don’t consider myself to have, well, heart problems / cardiac failure / etc. I often feel very lightheaded, dizzy, somewhat faint, and also have chest pain. I usually just stop what I’m doing, stand very still, and most of it goes away. I was already seeing a cardiologist for my hypertension, and a stroke that occurred in my mid 40’s. My doctor told me I have a Bifascicular Block and recommended Cardiac Rehab. This was almost a year ago, and I never followed through with the Rehab, just didn’t think I needed it. I’m too young to have heart problems & need Rehab like some old fart, sorry but it’s kinda how I feel. Couldn’t I just ride my bike, swim at the Y, go for walks, etc…? I’m hoping to hear from someone who knows or has dealt with having a Bifascicular Block. I think I just need some support or guidance in doing what’s right for my health. Thanks in advance.

Richard Munson You might think about another opinion and thinking i want to live till i’m at least 61. I’m still a young buck at 80 post heart surgery last year but i tend to listen if my body is sending me messages. Dizziness and chest pain is a message not to ignore. Good luck.

Martin Smith This old fart is suspicious of any going-on-60 who declares himself a young-buck stroke survivor and joins on April Fools' Day. But I'm not Columbò, so when in doubt do what Dr. Kildare would do: get a second opinion__ and soon!

Susan Lynn Forest - I worked out next to a tall, thin, fit 35 year-old when I attended cardiac rehab. He had a heart attack and emergency catheterization. Age isn't always a factor in heart problems. Another opinion is definitely a good idea. Best of luck!
Forest Hollow Thanks for responding guys, I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not one for social media or posting anything on the internet. I did go back & read my own post & thought I sounded a little whiny & rude, it wasn’t my intention. That stroke I mentioned, affected my memory / thought process & I’ve been on disability since.
Richard, Martin, & Susan : wow, 80 & still a young buck, that made my day, love it, also made me realize what a whiny baby I am. I do want to make it to 61. I really do like to joke around & pull pranks, don’t be too suspicious, I’m all real today. I understand age isn’t a factor when it comes to heart health, although a gentle reminder is very helpful. I think all you guys are right, I just don’t want to face it or deal with it but I know I need too. I did social work for years, was good at helping others but it’s different when it’s my own health. I called the Rehab center & I think I’m going to go forward with it. I hope I don’t get too embarrassed by how out of shape I am. Thanks for your support guys

Forest Hollow Bifascicular block, such a big word, doc said some people live with it & never know it plus it doesn’t seem to bother them. Other’s, like myself, feel lightheaded / dizzy / chest pain / and can have fainting spells. Was told I would need a pacemaker if my symptoms worsened. You guys have had major heart surgeries. Hard to compare just getting a pacemaker to your major surgeries. I wouldn’t wish any of them on my worst enemies. Is what I have really a big deal? The only good thing about having memory & thinking issues (I know sounds awful) is that you completely forget about things for very long timeframes, almost as if they don’t really exist. Well, better go, I sense I’m rambling.

Just came home from open heart surgery yesterday heading into recovery mode. This community has been a huge reason I'm where I'm at. Use this and remember everyone is different physically and mentally in their own journey. Good luck to you.

Richard Munson No offense taken forrest. We can all be a little whiny sometimes. Nothing you can do about aging. I see a lot of folks around that are in their 60’s and act like they are in their 90’s. No matter the age, listening to your body is still a good message. Get on that treadmill.
