I had an aortic valve replacement in 2009. A pig’s valve for stenosis and regurgitation. I’m wondering how I know if I need a replacement. I had no symptoms except for fainting twice. I will see a new cardiologist this summer. Any advice?

Heidi Donohue I agree seeing cardiologist is best but if your fainting this might need to be addressed sooner than this summer. I would push to try to see them sooner or check what is the earliest you can get echo done maybe your primary can order for you given your recent symptoms and background of already having heart valve replacement.

Joyce Shelby I would definitely check with my cardiologist on his/her thoughts on replacement time. I had an AVR in 2016 and I have to get a CT scan, ECHO and EKG annually. My cardiologist looks at these tests for functionality.
