Hello everyone, I would like to give my testimony about my Aortic Valve Replacement. Ismail El-Hamamsy, MD, PhD and his amazing team that did my surgery. After a aneurysm was found, open heart surgery had to be performed. I was scared and I was worried about my life moving forward. My mother passed away in 2015 from an aneurysm in 2015 at the age of 93 years old. I'm 62 years old and I thought my life was over. I cried and cried because I thought about all that I didn't have in my life. I'm am single with no girlfriend or kids. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the life I had left. So when I meet with Ismail and Lilyanne they convinced me that I would be alright after the surgery and have my life back because my heart was strong. Ismail couldn't believe I was 62 years old. He did have me laughing which put me in a good mood. There was no getting around the surgery, so I went to schedule my day with Leemor and Thursday, May 30th was the earliest I could do the surgery. I arrived at Mount Sinai in the morning with my sister and my brother-in-law but my surgery was rescheduled for the afternoon because of an emergency. I went in at 4:00 pm and I was finished at 8:00 pm. I really don't remember too much. All I can remember my vitals and other stuff was being done as I tried to sleep. On Saturday Dr. Ismail and the team came to see me. They explained to me that everything went very well. But, then they told me that my mother and I had the same aneurysm. I was surprised when they told me. Then the real eye-opened moment was they explained that they found a tear in my aneurysm and it started to heal. It was a miracle that I was alive and I was in shock. I said me, I'm a miracle because you only see it in movies or a stories on the news. They all looked at me and said God brought you back for a reason. There is a purpose for you. I was really taken back by the news. Then they told me I could go home on Monday. So I made some calls and I was picked up on Monday by Tanya and her sister Leslie which are childhood friends. I arrived home and was real weak and the recovery began. A nurse called me to make appointments to come visit me to take my vitals and make sure I was doing alright. That lasted for a few weeks. Tanya was taking me to the Supermarket or taking me to pick up prescriptions. I didn't like looking at my scar and before I knew it I got used to it. Little by little I was feeling better and moving better and soon I was back to work, which I do remotely. Then I was able to drive. Everyday I would thank God for what he did for me. Then I decided I had to thank him in person. So I started to go to church and I was baptized on December 1st. On the 16th I went to bring a gift to my team at Mount Sinai. They weren't available so I left it. The receptionist is the one who convinced me to give my testimony. I'm so thankful & blessed to be alive and looking forward to 2025!
