It was two weeks yesterday since I discontinued the Lisinopril. Today I'm feeling 100% better and continue to improve...this medicine is lethal! I've been sick with one respiratory issue after another since I was put on this in May. And all along I thought it was from surgery, bronchitis, pneuomnia...etc. So if anyone is on Lisinopril and have any of these issues, please read about Lisinopril Cough...it has it's own website...
Lord I thought it was going to kill me! I have been so sick with coughing, gagging, sweats, sick to my stomach...finally the cardiologist diagnosed the "lisinopril cough". I've been off lisinorpil 5 nights now and I'm still getting coughing fits but less in number.
Anyone else getting steriod shots in their incision?
Journal posted on November 21, 2011
I had surgery 5 April and my incision is not healing well. It's itcy, purple, and ropey. I haveCarol had one steriod shot in it and have a second one coming up. It hurt so bad when she gave me the shots. I got a referreral for 6 times, I hope I don't have to do this for 6 months!
I went into the hospital Monday for what I thought was bronchitis. I do have viral bronchitis, but they decided since I just has OHS in Apr, they would check things out. Echo, two CT scans later they found out I have "Mycardial Stunning" or the the correct diagnosis non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, i.e., your heart has a reduced pumping capacity that is not due to coronary artery disease. It is unclear if this is a result of your rescent surgical procedure.
So, needless to say...I've been a little depressed about this. I'm on Lisinopril and Toprol XL to try to correct the problem. We'll see what happens.
Another fever of 102 and a new stronger antibiotic

Next Tuesday will be 7 weeks...I thought by now I'd being doing good. Can't shake this bronchitis, the doc put me on Biaxin this time and said if I 'm not feeling better by next Wed...I go for a chest xray.
It will be 5 weeks tomorrow since surgery. Last week I started feeling a lot of post nasal drip and about three days ago I got this horrible wet cough. So I thought...better head to the doc. I'm on a Z Pac and Cough Pearls, if by Wed I don't feel better, I've got to go for a chest ex ray. I so wanted to go back to work...
I thought I would feel better than I do at 3 weeks post op. I have a cough and it hurts so bad to cough. I still get short of breath real easy and I have indigestion daily and my little finger and ring finger on my left hand is numb.
Friday is my post op. Can't wait to talk to the doc.
Reality has set in - I just took my first Pre-Surgery Meds
Journal posted on April 3, 2011
Yep...when I took the Amiodarone, reality set in. I spent the night at my son's house but decided to come home this morning, I just feel better being alone at this time...has anyone else felt this way? Not wanting to be surrounded by people?
Today was pre op. Went very smooth...but long. My BAV is working so well...that the surgeon said he will be surprised if he has to replace it. If he does...I have chosen a mechanical valve. At Bethesda Naval, they use the St. Jude. I've read a lot about it...it's been around a long time and proven.
I ask, will my aortic aneurysm fix last me the rest of my life, he said yes. He said the mechanical is a good choice.
I have to be at the hospital at 04:45, surgery starts at 0800. I'm ready.
Replace Aortic Valve or Don't Replace Aortic Valve???
Journal posted on March 21, 2011
So today I had the heart cath and TEE. The TEE hose down the throat was bearable... So as I've been told before...your aortic valve is working pristine...it's a shame you have that HUGE aneurysm that could dissect at any time. The cardiologist said, today, you do not need a valve replacement for another 20 years or maybe never but it's up to the surgeon. Now I'm waiting to see what the surgeon says...to replace or not to replace. More research to do...
