Has anyone lost their voice after their operation? I've been recovering now for about 9 weeks and my voice sounds like I should sing the blues or jazz. The docs and rehab people all say it's normal. Just wondering on how long it took others to get their voices back... Read more.
The problem you are having is probably due to the endotracheal tube used during surgery. It is a breathing tube that goes between your vocal cords to deliver oxygen during the beginning and end of cardiac surgery. FYI - They may or may not use a camera when they insert that tube.
Bruce, I am still hearing my voice a little different, totally normal
I had a few complications during my surgery and had about 4 different tubes down my throat and nose for about 5 days. I was told it will get better (and it did) but now seems to not be improving very much.
Try to be patient. It might take a while, especially since you had so many tubes down your throat. And, try not to use your voice as much so that the vocal cords can get stronger. Good luck!

Finally, after 3 days of non-stop rain I can get out and walk again. I was going through withdraws.
