Hi! I am new to the site. I have a bicuspid aortic valve as well as a mild leaky tricuspid valve. I am still in the waiting phase as my numbers are in the good range and holding for the past few years. Any advice for people in similar stages? How often do you see your cardiologist for a check-up?

Cathleen Weed If you are mild and not symptomatic you can go 12 months between check-ups. If your doctor says 6 months, do that. I only went in once a year during that time. Enjoy life, eat well, exercise regularly, and then if the time comes for surgery you'll be in excellent health 💛. Stay ready so you don't have to get ready 🌟

2009 Check up - mild to moderate stenosis
2011 Check up - moderate to severe stenosis
2012 Check up - no change, some symptoms
2013 Check up - severe stenosis, Cardiac cath, more fatigue, short of breath
2013 1/2 Check up - some deterioration, discussed possibility of bicuspid valve, major fatigue, chest heaviness
2014 Check up, cardiac cath, more deterioration, surgery scheduled March 2014
2014 1/2 check up - "Come back in a year" :)
2015 Check up - "Come back in 2 years"
My cardio doesn't want to see me unless I have a problem, I'm currently on a 2-year echo schedule. And that's only because my job requires proof that I'm really doing OK.
Interesting to note when I was first diagnosed the doctor suggested that I probably wouldn't need a surgery, but if I did it would be 30 years down the road.
