Yesterday’s visit to the dr was good as dr stopped the wound vac treatment and moved me to wet/dry wound care. Feels better although the tape is tough on the skin but I can move more with less pain. Yippee. Long road of recovery that I hope is now smoother. God bless.

Since my last update, a lot has gone on. It’s a list! Recently I had a debridement on the chest to treat an infection 6 months after the last OHS, wore a wound vac 24 days. Then 1 week and 1 day later on the same spot as the debridement, and 7 months and 8 days after the last OHS, an infected sternum wire was removed and again dealing with a wound vac again. Has anyone else experienced such a late sternum wire infection?

Got home November 9. Taking care to go at my pace.
Since home, it’s been eventful.
By Monday seen my primary doctor for a check out and had an antibiotic assigned to treat UTI that made me sick & has 2 others tried before getting something that didn’t. Learned how to be sick with the sturnum & heart pillow & my very helpful loving husband. A large sore bled the same day due to a tube bed sore that crossed the vein surgery line during my hospital stay that she my PMP sent me to the surgeon’s office for that Wednesday who began wound care.
Then Sunday evening I had a headache with pain with a level of 10. 24-hours later another. By yesterday I was at ER because the pain was over 10. Head Ct shows dried blood on my left side. They said it was not a brand new issue but could be from the surgery. Going to a neurologist Monday for a 2nd scan & dr visit.
This afternoon my left leg near the wound care spot & about 1” below the vein entry I must’ve pulled something. Surgeon’s Nurse is called. Wow.
We’ve called the nurses & drs bunches these past few days.
On a good note I feel ok. God is good all the time. My husband, daughter, siblings, my family so very supportive, way fantastic, with loving prayers. My friends so supportive & loving prayers. The home nurses & therapy techs are great.

God’s got this!

Over achiever. Passed all the tests. Now OHS is officially on Monday morning. God’s got this.

Jill Krajnovich Hi Bev, I am also from Indiana and had the same surgery on Jul 25th. I have finished cardiac rehab and other than being a little careful about how much weight I lift, I am back to doing everything I did before surgery. Prayers and best wishes to you!

My surgeon is real good about answering my questions but this site is great. Thank you. The poem. The posts. October 30 is the day the dr will replace the aortic and aortic valve. My bicuspid aortic valve has developed severe stenosis and caused the aortic to develop an aneurysm.

My husband found it for me after the procedure - could have used advice before admission, but oh well! Be sure to bring some comfy pj pants w u to the hosp, and maybe even your own pillow. Those Gowns universally weird, but need pocket for telemetry moniter when u transferout of ICU. Wishing u the Best and Quickest recovery! 👍👍👍
