Thanks for adding me. I underwent surgery to replace my mitral and AVL valve 6 weeks ago. It was a shocking diagnosis (CHF). Most likely Venflaxine (an anti depressant) destroyed my valves, that 0,1% ☹.
I'm a R.N., it's difficult being on the other side.
I feel great, did since post-op day 2. The last few days though I have a lot of aches and pains (from muscle aches to short serious cramps/shocks) in my collarbones, shoulders, neck. I guess all the ligaments, tendons and muscle fascia etc is healing. I tend to 'do too much' and have an active life with a toddler. I don't pick him up!! I'm starting physio soon to learn the do's and don'ts.
Any advice is appreciated!
Best wishes from Amsterdam!
Allison

Lisa Coombe I’m getting a lot of what you put here, I’m 3 weeks post op and I think it’s the nerves healing but it does hurt. I have a 10 year old son and he has autism and when he’s in meltdown mode he tries to attack me so it has been hard for me

Lynn Loudermilk Hi Allison...yes the nerve pain...ug. When I had my ACDF 3 years ago I was like, thought I woud be done with nerve pain but the incision and areas around it were just like now but wow, not nice. My surgery was March 9th and still getting zingers. Try to relax, get in your walks :) Heat does help. I have been doing that a while.

Dylan Kempers Hi Lisa, everything you are describing post op sounds normal for a surgery like yours. It's a process and we have to be patient.
Rose Madura A heating pad seemed to help me. The shoulder pain was way worse than incision pain for me

Joey Hardee Hey Allison. I remember it well! I had aches and pains in my collarbone area and shoulders. I would get the occasional radiating "episode" down both arms that I just had to endure. Usually lasted 30 to 60 seconds and then would fade away. All that lasted for a couple months and gradually went away. I don't know that I have advice but maybe some hope that it does get better. I'm 2 years post op for AVR and aorta replacement (Bentall Procedure). Just got back from a 4 mile run. :-) -- Highly recommend cardiac rehab. That was such a catalyst to my full recovery. Prayers you continue to heal and improve!
