About Me

Like so many of you, it started with heart murmur since childhood. At suggestion of my PCP i had echocardiogram which started the ball rolling for open heart surgery to replace aortic valve with mechanical valve. Since the root opening was too small, TVAR, which had been offered in the beginning was taken off the table. I am now 6 months post surgery and back to walking, light hiking and biking. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same weird pulls from their mechanical valve. The first day after surgery I nearly tripped over my feet as the pull from the valve was so strong my body wanted to turn left rather than go straight. That has subsided, but I still have a much milder internal pull after exercise. Always to the left. It more like a rocking left to right. Not so strong you can actually see me rocking but internally there is a pull. Has anyone experienced this.
