About Me (In My Own Words)
I ended up in the hospital on Friday the 13th of January 2017 due to severe dizziness and shortness of breath. I still believe the dizziness was because I needed new glasses and had spent too much time looking at my tiny phone screen that day. The shortness of breath was part of a panic attack I was having because I was driving home from work when the dizziness happened and I pulled over and couldn't shake it. I do take meds for anxiety, depression, and have bipolar disorder. Anyway, I was admitted to hospital after er visit and nothing was found EXCEPT severe aortic stenosis. In June I finally gave in and went for full battery of presurgical tests and heart cath at Cleveland Clinic, where I had another full blown panic attack. I asked my surgeon if I could possibly put the surgery off until fall. So, I have a last hurrah trip to Vegas early September then another echo and appt with surgeon on Sept 14th. I suspect surgery will be scheduled then. I think I'm asymptomatic. I never was athletic so I can't really say that I can't do as much. Like many, I never heard of aortic valve replacement before this. My biggest fear is the heart lung machine as I have mild copd from smoking.
