12 years ago I saw my local GP regarding palpitations. Because I was extremely fit & strong he said it could be a heart murmer but he didn't think it would be until he put a stethoscope on my chest to listen to my heart. I remember his reaction as he said " Hmmm....you do have a heart murmer." From that day on I have had Echos, ECGs, Angiograms, Stress Tests, TOE proceedures & appointments continually to keep on top of the condition of my Mitral Valve. After the TOE ( Transesophageal Echocardiogram ) the surgeon finally said that the mitral valve leak is now moderate to severe and we need to repair or replace as soon as possible.
