About Me

I was born in 1960 with mitral valve prolapse but it was only last year that my awesome cardiologist, Dr. Patrick Hsu, found the valve to be leaking. He made it clear that one day I would need to have surgery but at that time said the leak was under control. Fast forward a year - approximately 1 month before taking a 3-week trip back to Europe to visit family and friends, my shortness of breath definitely felt more pronounced and even though I didn't particularly want to go back to see Dr. Hsu for fear he would tell me I couldn't go to Europe, I felt a strong prompting to do so. Shortly thereafter, test results revealed the leak was now severe (a 4 on a scale of 1 to 4) and I was advised to come in for mitral valve repair or replacement sooner rather than later. My surgery took place on 05/19/17 in the early morning, and I just returned home Saturday following an 8 day stay at Mountain View Hospital, where I am blessed to have fallen under the care of Dr. Michael Wood and his outstanding team.
