I first went to UAB in 1968, where I was going to get a Pig Valve. However, I was told my condition was not severe enough, and to continue to wait for Surgery. (I had SBE and it was destroying my Aortic Valve) It got severe enough in Nov, 1974 the doctors did replace my Aortic Valve. They used one of the early Brok Shirley Valves. It has been great, no problems, except I have had to be on blood thinners since the surgery.
