About Me

In April, I went in for a routine check-up with my primary care doctor at Kaiser, but after listening to my heart, he sent me for an echocardiogram, which showed severe mitral regurgitation. This came as a total shock to me because, aside from a long-standing heart murmur, I've been asymptomatic. I was referred to a cardiologist for more tests, and then an angiogram, which confirmed the severe regurgitation and the need for mitral valve repair or replacement. I'm 61 years old, and otherwise in good health, so this all seems quite surreal!
