About Me

I was diagnosed with a heart murmur in July 2018 during my annual physical. At the next one in September 2019, I asked my doctor how we could tell for sure whether my heart murmur was serious or could cause problems later on. She ordered an Echocardiogram which I had in February 2020. When I went back in September 2020 for my annual checkup, she suggested we get a second Echo a year apart (Feb 2021) so we had something to compare to. A family member suggested I ask for a referral to a cardiologist so that in case I did need a procedure in the future, I would already have a relationship with a cardiologist. I met with the cardiologist on January 14 and on February 4 had my second Echo which showed significant change from the prior year and was told I likely needed surgery. I had a TEE and cardiac cath on Feb 10. My husband and I met with the surgeon on Feb 17. My surgery will be March 1.
