I was diagnosed with MVP when I was 22 and having a physical. I have known about the condition for 26 years. It wasn't until late last October after a large pleural effusion of my right lung that I learned that my condition had suddenly become severe and I needed surgery within a year to two. Fast forward to this past week in January after a TEE and my Cardiologist informed me that I now had severe regurgitation and needed to think of having surgery within the next 2-3 months.
