About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born and raised in Jackson Michigan. Shortly after graduating from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!), my beautiful wife and I moved to Sarasota FL.
I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. I started having annual checkups with a cardiologist after my diagnosis (about 12 years ago). On my most recent checkup, April 2011, my Dr. discovered an aneurysm on my ascending aorta. He ordered further tests, that did indeed confirm the aneurysm.
He referred me to a surgeon in Kissimmee FL. After meeting with the surgeon and his staff we were very confident and very much at ease with him. We scheduled my surgery for June 7, 2011....5 days after my 40th birthday!!
I love my wife and family, playing guitar,working out, basketball, Judo and anything to do with the water.
I am a CFP by trade and in my free time, my wife and I are passionate about and very much involved in the advocacy of "at risk youth." We volunteer with our golden retriever therapy dog at the Sudakoff Youth Shelter and Hospice.
I am very much looking forward to my surgery and getting back to some of my more strenuous activities.
UPDATE: On June 7, 2011 I had my aortic valve replaced and my aortic root repaired. I am recovering nicely, thanks to my fantastic surgeon, Dr. Vinay Badhwar.
UPDATE: Doing great with my ON-X mechanical valve. No doubt this entire experience has changed me forever....so much to be thankful for. Had a party for my 1 year anniversary from heart surgery, check out the photos.
