About Me (In My Own Words)
After having a co-arctation of the aorta in 1967 at age 16 I was diagnosed in March 2010 with aortic stenosis due to a bicuspid aortic valve that was by now badly calcified.
Symptoms first became obvious in October 2009 but diagnosis was delayed due to evidence of asbestosis being found in both lungs.
My cardiologist Dr Steve Fenton recommended angioplasty to determine that all arteries are clear and that the co-arctation is still in very good order. I have chosen to go with a tissue valve and surgery will be performed by Prof. Paul Bannon at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney on May 4 2010
