About Me

I'm 28 and have spent the better part of my 20's trying to feel better. I had many providers tell me I was too young for heart problems and that I needed to exercise more. As anybody with a heart defect knows, this became a futile experiement. When I exercised, I felt worse. I finally had a doctor explore my heart and within 6 months I was under the knife for an AVR with mechanical valve and graft for an aneurysm. Recovery is hell (I'm 9 weeks post-op) as I try to finish out my last year of nursing school. A part of me is so disappointed that it wasn't a miracle cure and I don't feel better. To make it worse, I developed a heart block and had a pacemaker implanted this week. Trying to stay positive, trying to believe it was worth the procedures. But I'm afraid that I will never feel better.
