About Me (In My Own Words)
It was actually my boyfriend who had the quadruple bypass surgery. He had 7 total blockages and only 4 were bypassed. I've been his care partner thru every step of it, including his very first diagnosis. It came as a shock to us both, mainly because he had zero symptoms that were even serious other then fatigue and short of breath. Nothing that would give an idea of Heart Failure. He went to the ER for a possible flu or severe cold that wasn't going away. And they took chest x-rays and discovered what they saw as possible blockages. They set him up with a Heart Cardiologist, Dr. Ahmed M Sakkal, MD. Who did his Heart Cath and showed me his pictures of his heart once it was completed. It was a shock to me, to him, and to his whole family. It was in September of 2017 when he was first diagnosed and it was in January of 2018 when he finally decided to go through with the surgery. Since then he has been diagnosed with asthma, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, Gastrointestinal, anemia and sleep apnea. Only 52% of his lungs are working, which makes it that much more harder for him to get around. He's out of breathe just by going from the house to the vehicle. It's been a little over a year since his bypass surgery and he's been in and out of the hospital 4x being admitted all 4x. His last stay in the hospital lasted a month. He was released Feb 18, 2019 and was admitted Jan. 23rd. He had RSV which lead to Pnemonia which lead to him being put on a ventilator for 9 days, and the doctor calling the family in. Thank the Good Lord above and for the many many prayers being sent up, he made it out of it once again.
