About Me

After some years of very occasional and short lived tachycardia, I had a major event in February of 2023 which resulted in me spending a night in the hospital. While there, the cardiologist heard heart murmur. An echo cardiogram identified mitral valve regurgitation. It wasn't yet serious enough to take action, but I got something new to worry about. As the year progressed, I gradually moved into permanent atrial fillibration, probably a combination of the regurgitation and exiting electrical problems. An echo in September showed similar levels of regurgitation and a bit of heart enlargement, but not enough for action. The next echo, in March of this year, showed more enlargement. Time for action. I have met with Dr Couper of the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He used to be with Beth Israel, and you can see some older posts on this website of people who had seen him there. The plan is a mitral valve repair and a MAZE procedure on May 14. I'm 65 and in OK health, other than this.
