Fortunately my PCP began doing routine ECGs on me a couple of years ago and noticed stenosis caused by AVC. My AVA went from 1.44 to .9 in the last year. My Brother has been diagnosed with a BAV, so the same may be the case with me but I have not been officially diagnosed as such. We confirmed the stenosis with a cardiac catheterization which also showed my coronary arteries were clear. My PCP referred me to Dr. Razzouk and I had a consultation on 12/14/2016. Since I am symptomatic, Dr. Razzouk recommended I get it taken care of ASAP. I have opted for an ON-X mechanical heart valve. I am an avid mountain biker which has resulted in significant left ventricular hypertrophy. I also love tennis and hiking, and intend to take up bike touring. I am looking forward to having full cardiac function again so I can continue to pursue these activities for years to come with my family and friends.
