About Me (In My Own Words)
My PCP heard a murmur in October, scheduled follow-up echo in November, met with cardiologist in December had heart catheterization, then scheduled to see team at Providence Heart Institute early February. Diagnosis is severe aortic stenosis with symptoms. The director of the TAVR program explained with my Bicuspid valve, it would be better to do surgery for the long term and looking at all the data, I agreed. Both the surgeon and the interventional cardiologist agreed. Thankfully, I have no other heart disease, and all blood flow is good--no blockages or other issues. It will be a difficult journey, but thanks to all the tips on this site and others, I've been preparing! Still, it is so surreal. I've always been the healthiest one in my family. Now, I'm the only one left. So, I'm leaning on my husband and friends and my faith for moral support.
