About Me (In My Own Words)
I was given the choice of a an On-x valve or a Ross procedure for my BAV. Surgery is May 26th at Brigham & Women's in Boston.
I have spent 5 agonizing months researching valves & chose a bio prosthetic because mechanical ones tick like a watch, & no-one knows how loud mine would be or if it would drive me crazy. Since being diagnosed with a nickel allergy, my surgeon has researched different valves, & it turns out bio prosthetic valves have a metal setting which contains nickel.
I'm back at square one & weary of all this.
