About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 53 years young. Never had a clue about my heart problem until I was told I had a "murmur" at a routine screen for allergies. Boy am I glad that PA had a good ear!
My family doctor didn't hear it, ekg's and a treadmil stress test didn't show it either. He referred me to a really good cardiologist who recognized the sound of regurgitating blood in my mitral valve right away.
Now after several Echocardiograms, a TEE and an Angiogram later I'm scheduled for Robotic Mitral Valve Repair in July.
My wife and I did extensive research to help us understand this problem and to find the right surgeon. Heart-Valve-Surgery.com was a HUGE help!
My cardiologist recommended a surgeon and we're sure he's great, but... you've only got one heart!
After much prayer, LOTS of research and a very successful consultation we selected Dr Alfredo Trento.
At my doctor's urging (all of them) I am losing weight. I have a goal in mind that I want to reach before surgery date and I'm on my way there.
Please pray I make my goal. That will make surgery and recovery much easier!
As I'm sure all heart surgery patients know, this is a lot un-nerving and I'll admit shook me up. But after learning all I can about how far medical science has progressed and with all my faith in my creator, I have confidence that this will go smoothly and I'll be feeling much better in no time at all.
