About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with heart valve disease back in 2011 following a mini stroke aged 40. I was kept under observation over the next few years until my symptoms increased, including tiredness and shortness of breath on exertion. A Transoesophageal Echocardiogram in October this year showed severe regurgitation and it was decided then to carry out valve replacement. It was also just discovered at this time that I have a rare congenital quadricuspid aortic valve rather than a tricuspid. Probably explains a lot over the years! But I’m so glad it’s been discovered as, according to the surgeon, I would have only had another 2-3 years of life expectancy otherwise!
Anyways, that’s my story so far and I’m looking forward to my fresh start next week ... God has blessed me with a second chance at life! I understand there will be a few weeks of discomfort during recovery, but it will be worth it! 🥳🎉❤️
Love to all heart warriors,
Heather xx
